A400M can also be configured as an air-to-air refuelling tanker, capable of refuelling combat jets, helicopters and large receivers e,g, A400M. Unlike other heavy airlifters, its four turboprop engines allow it to land on short, unpaved airstrips, delivering supplies directly where they're needed. It combines the strategic range and high cruise speeds of a jet-engine airlifter with the tactical flexibility to operate in challenging environments.
